Early detection of a health event minimized mortality

An AGL monitored turkey farm showed a marked change in bird vocalization levels, both day and night, for one house while patterns for the other three houses remained stable. Significant and persistent changes in the daily sound patterns are typically indicative of either an operational shift, environmental change, or a health event. In person assessment of the alerted house, indicated a disease challenge that had not yet resulted in a noticeable impact on daily mortality, although a slight upward trend could be seen. Similar pattern changes were subsequently alerted in the other houses allowing for earlier, mild, yet effective, treatment options resulting in reduced overall mortality impacts for the growout cycle.
